Lynne Machtemes (Giachetti) was born and raised in Belleville, New Jersey. After attending Belleville High School, she attended Caldwell College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. In 2001, she graduated from New York Law School. Upon graduation from law school, Lynne served as a law clerk to the Honorable James G. Troiano, in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex County, Family Part from 2001-2002. After practicing with another firm in Essex County for two years, Lynne joined our firm in 2004.
Lynne devotes her practice exclusively to matrimonial law and related issues, such as divorce, post-judgment support modifications, custody disputes, relocation disputes, pre-nuptial agreements, college contribution disputes, and domestic violence matters. She regularly serves on the Essex County Early Settlement panel and has been appointed by judges to serve as a parent coordinator in high conflict cases, as well as to serve as a guardian ad litem. Lynne is also expanding her practice to include mediation, to provide litigants with an alternative to litigation.
Lynne believes that everyone should have access to quality legal representation. She is a volunteer with Volunteer Lawyers for Justice, representing litigants in family law matters on a pro bono basis and providing instruction to litigants at clinics held in Essex County.
A resident of Essex County, Lynne continues to be involved with her alma mater, now Caldwell University, having served on the Alumni Board for several terms and she is a member of the Caldwell University Athletic Department Hall of Fame Committee.
Lynne strives to provide her clients with clarity and understanding of what can be a confusing and overwhelming process. She practices with a straightforward approach to meet each client’s individual needs. She values the relationships she builds with her clients and the trust that every one of them places in her to represent them.
Lynne knows how difficult family matters are for people to talk about and she makes every effort to help clients feel comfortable discussing such sensitive issues. She welcomes you to give her a call to determine if working with her is the right next step for you.
