Your Divorce Dispute Can Be Resolved Outside Of The Courtroom

Even in an amicable divorce, spouses may have trouble agreeing on the specifics. In a contested divorce, it is even harder to find middle ground as each side digs in its heels. More and more couples are taking advantage of mediation, voluntary or court-ordered, to resolve their divorces without litigation.

The family law attorneys of Iacullo, Martino & Reinitz, can help you explore a mediated solution. Our Nutley law firm provides mediator services, serving as a neutral party to help couples facilitate an out-of-court settlement. We can also provide legal counsel to one spouse during mediation as part of the divorce process. Rely on our 47 years of experience to help you resolve your legal matter.

Is Mediation Right For You?

Divorce litigation is costly and stressful and leaves your fate in the hands of a judge. Mediation aims for the elusive win-win situation that is less costly, requires less time, less animosity and more control over the outcome. Both parties are more likely to adhere to a mediated settlement than conditions imposed by the court. This is especially important to the co-parenting relationship after divorce.

We provide mediation at two stages:

  • Pre- or post-divorce mediation — Couples may hire a mediator before or after initiating divorce to resolve any issues of dissolving a marriage: child custody and parenting time, child support and alimony, marital property and debts.
  • Economic mediation — In a contested divorce, an Early Settlement Panel will suggest solutions based on how a judge would probably rule at trial. If the parties reject the recommendations, they must choose an approved mediator and attend mandatory mediation to try to work out their differences. Economic mediation covers only property, debts and financial support.
